Seahawk athletes earn conference honors
Congratulations to the following student athletes, who received honors from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) for the week of Oct. 15:
Men’s cross country
Sean Hughes ’16 was named rookie of the week for the fifth time this season. He had a terrific showing at the Golden Bear Invitational last Saturday, finishing eighth overall in a field of 204 runners. Hughes finished the 8,000-meter course in 26:51, leading the Seahawks to a 16th place finish, beating out five other programs.
Women’s cross country
Aubrey Palmquist ’16 was named rookie of the week for the third time and runner of the week for the first time. She set the pace for the Seahawks this weekend as the team took second place in the Western New England Invitational. Palmquist finished fourth among 212 runners, and led the Seahawks with a time of 19:23.
Women’s volleyball
Jennifer Duggan ’15 was named player of the week after helping to lead the Seahawks to a 3-1 record last week, compiling 2.86 kills, 2.71 digs and 0.21 aces per set. She currently paces the Seahawks with 192 kills on the year, averaging a team-best 2.59 kills per set.
