Seahawk ice hockey players earn conference honors

Six Seahawk ice hockey players recently received honors from the Commonwealth Coast Conference and the New England Hockey Conference: Jack Billings ’20, Amanda Cronin ’17, Nick Cyr ’19, Nick Owen ’17, Pat Thompson ’18 and Blake Wojtala ’19.
Billings totaled six goals and 22 assists in 20 games. He ranked third in the conference for assists and fourth in the nation for points per game as a freshman (1.40).
Cronin posted a career-high and team-leading 15 goals this season, leading the conference in goals by a defenseman. She also handed out nine assists to rank third in the conference for overall point scoring by a defenseman.
Cyr scored three goals, handed out 12 assists and was a +24 on the season. His plus/minus numbers ranked second in the conference among all players and he ranks fourth in points per game for defensemen.
Owen ranked second in the conference for assists as a defenseman with 14. He was a +14 on the ice this season.
Thompson once again led the Seahawks in goal scoring with 13, and also dished out six assists. He had the team’s only hat trick, a team-high four power play goals and three game-winning goals.
Wojtala registered 757 saves for a .933 save percentage and a 2.29 goals against average in 24 games. He ranked second in the conference for saves and save percentage and 12th in the nation for save percentage.
The men’s team opens the CCC playoffs this weekend hosting Johnson & Wales University in a quarterfinal match at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, while the women’s team travels to the University of Massachusetts Boston on Saturday for a 3 p.m. matchup in the quarterfinal round of the conference playoffs.
