Seahawks heading to ECAC Northeast Bowl
The football team has accepted a bid for the 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference Northeast Bowl and will travel to Northfield, Vt., to face Norwich University at noon Saturday, Nov. 22.
The Seahawks have appeared in five previous ECAC bowls, most recently in 2013 when they hosted Western Connecticut State University in a 48-35 loss. In 2011, the current seniors on the Seahawk squad were freshmen when Salve Regina hosted Worcester State University and won the championship 26-6.
Norwich and Salve Regina have never met on a football field. The Cadets closed their regular season at home last Saturday with a 48-28 loss to Castleton State University.
Salve Regina enters Saturday’s contest on a four-game winning streak after defeating Endicott College 35-23 to end the regular season. Dan Buonocore ’15 rushed for three touchdowns and 124 yards to lead the Seahawks, and needs just nine more yards to become the fourth individual in school history to amass more than 1,000 yards rushing in a single season.
