Service Week offers volunteer opportunities around campus
Service Week – an opportunity for students to participate in service on campus or within walking distance – will be held Oct. 12-20. Seven opportunities totaling 20 hours of community service will be offered throughout the week.

Thursday, Oct. 12 and Friday, Oct. 13: Daffy Days
Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Wakehurst lawn to pack 45,000 daffodil bulbs in “Let’s Get Daffy” bags, which will be given to Newport residents and businesses to plant throughout the city.
Saturday, Oct. 14: Daffodil Giveaway
Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. to noon at Easton’s (First) Beach to distribute daffodil bulbs to Newport residents and businesses.
Monday, Oct. 16: Newport Hospital
Volunteers are needed from 7-9 p.m. in Wakehurst, Room 201 to create tissue paper flowers for Newport Hospital.
Tuesday, Oct. 17: St. Paul’s Church Warm Up Wednesday
Volunteers are needed from 7-9 p.m. at the Mercy Center for Spiritual Life to bake sweet treats for St. Paul’s Church’s Warm Up Wednesday program.
Wednesday, Oct. 18: Confetti Foundation
Volunteers are needed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Wakehurst, Room 201 to create birthday banners for the Confetti Foundation.
Thursday, Oct. 19: Head Start Halloween Costumes
Volunteers are needed from 7-9 p.m. in Wakehurst, Room 201 to create Halloween costumes for the children at Head Start.
Friday, Oct. 20: Potter League for Animals
Volunteers are needed from 7-9 p.m. in Wakehurst, Room 201 to create cat toys for the Potter League for Animals.
