Sigma Phi Sigma accepting nominations for membership
Sigma Phi Sigma, Salve Regina’s chapter of the national mercy honor society, is accepting nominations for membership in the society. Full-time freshmen, sophomores and juniors who exemplify the values of scholarship, fidelity and service are eligible for membership.
Salve Regina has had a Sigma Phi Sigma chapter on campus since the founding of this national mercy honor society in 1956, and its members continue to work together to represent the University in the pursuit of continuing the ideals of the Sisters of Mercy as well as the honor society itself.
Sigma Phi Sigma members are required to attend general meetings (held two or three times each semester), participate in five hours of service and one Sigma-sponsored academic event each semester and serve on the planning team for one event per year. In addition, Sigma members usher at University events such as Convocation and the Governor’s Ball.
Students interested in membership should contact Dr. Anna Mae Mayer or Dr. Jayme Hennessy via email by Wednesday, May 6. Applications are available online, and completed applications are due by Friday, May 29.
Faculty and staff are invited to submit the names of students they wish to nominate for membership in the society to Mayer or Hennessy by May 6.
