Six men’s basketball players named to NABC Honors Court
The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) recently announced the recipients of the 2021-22 NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards and NABC Honors Court, representing outstanding achievement in the classroom by collegiate men’s basketball teams and student athletes.
The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize men’s basketball programs that completed the 2021-22 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court includes junior, senior and graduate student men’s basketball players who finished the 2021-22 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
Six Seahawks earning the distinction are: Donnie Aikins ’23; Cameron Collins ’21, a current graduate student; Kevin Kelly ’21, a current graduate student; Chris Peasley ’22; Andrew Richards ’22; and Mikey Spencer ’22.
“Our upperclassmen have continued their outstanding academic achievement, and I’m proud of their addition to the NABC Honors Court,” said Sean Foster ’97, head coach for men’s basketball. “These student athletes have exhibited tremendous leadership on campus, in the classroom and on the basketball court, resulting in tremendous success in all areas. They are fantastic examples for our underclassmen of what being a Seahawk Men’s Basketball player is all about and they’ve had a major positive impact on our future culture.”
Over 2,000 players earned spots on the NABC Honors Court and over 300 programs received NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards for 2021-22.
