Softball wins All-CCC Coach of the Year, Team Sportsmanship Award
The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) recently announced its 2023 Softball All-Conference Teams and major award winners. The Coach of the Year honor went to Salve Regina’s head coach Shauna Mulkerin, and her team was also awarded the Team Sportsmanship Award.
Mulkerin earned her first-ever CCC Coach of the Year after leading Salve Regina to a 9-9 CCC, 18-22 overall, in just her second season. The Salve Regina squad was the No. 5 seed in the CCC Championship Tournament.
Offense was the story of the year for Salve Regina — as Mulkerin’s squad led the league in scoring with 200 total runs, 79 total stolen bases and 323 hits. They also led the league in doubles with 60.
Voting for the All-CCC Teams and major awards was conducted by the 10 CCC softball head coaches following the conclusion of the regular season.
