SRU Dance ready to “Turn it Up” this weekend
SRU Dance, Salve Regina’s student-run dance organization, will present its spring performance, “Turn it Up,” Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21 in the Rodgers Recreation Center.
This spring’s performance will include 29 dances in styles of tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, modern, Irish step and African, and will feature a finale number showcasing the senior class. This semester, the club boasts more than 120 performers, who will dance to the music of Chris Brown, La Roux, Florence and the Machine, Alt-J and many more.
Performances will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Admission to Saturday’s performance is at least a $1 donation to the Andrea Rizzo Foundation, while admission to Sunday’s performance is $5. At both shows, children young enough to sit on an adult’s lap are admitted free.
A Salve Regina graduate, Andrea Rizzo was tragically killed by a drunk driver at age 24. The foundation established in her name raises money for children’s cancer research through dance therapy programs. The members of SRU Dance continue to support “Drea’s Dream” and help the foundation in any way they can.
