Stanton named D3football.com all-American
Hayden Stanton ’16 has been named to the D3football.com all-America team. A defensive tackle, he is just the second player in the program’s history to earn the honor.
During the fall 2013 season, Stanton was ranked 15th in the country for sacks, finishing with 11.5 for 64 yards. He was fifth on the team with 57 tackles, including a league-leading 17.0 tackles for loss for 94 yards.
Currently ranked third all-time at Salve Regina in yards from sacks (97) and quarterback hurries (11), Stanton is also tied for third in forced fumbles (4). He is fourth in the Seahawks record book with 147 yards from tackles for loss and is tied for fourth with 16.5 sacks in just his first two seasons.
Stanton was a Cliff Harris Award nominee and was the only underclassman named to the New England Football Writers Association all-New England DII/III team. He was also named the New England Football Conference defensive player of the year and earned a spot on the Beyond Sports Network all-America team.
