Student Peer Wellness Educators use Instagram for remote wellness initiatives
Students who are Peer Wellness Educators (PWE) at Salve Regina created an Instagram (@salve_wellness) earlier this semester to help students, staff and faculty connect with wellness initiatives.
A Peer Wellness Educator is a new student leadership position that was added to the Student Leadership Application just this year within Student Affairs. Currently, the program runs out of the Center for Student Development, and Connelly Clifford, office and student wellness coordinator for the center, will be supervising the PWEs.
The PWEs assist with increasing awareness in areas around overall wellness and advocate to build a culture of well-being and positive mental health at Salve Regina. Originally, the intent was to develop programs, workshops, activities and other ways to help advocate for wellness on the University campus.
Due to the current coronavirus situation, PWEs have shifted and ramped up the content on their Instagram with the hopes of providing daily inspiration, resources and practices for students to engage with during remote learning.
The goal of PWEs and this Instagram is to promote a campus culture where every student is given the tools, encouragement, education and support they may need to prioritize their overall wellness. They seek to partner with individuals, organizations and departments across campus to actively support their Salve Community.
