Teenage musicians are invited to attend the Jazz Camp at Newport
For any teenage musicians ages 14-18 who are looking to refine their musical abilities and fill up their summer, the Jazz Camp at Newport will be held on Sunday, July 24, through Friday, July 29.
The Jazz Camp at Newport is an exciting opportunity for high school students to learn from experienced music educators and discover the depths of their musical talent. It will feature daily jazz combo, small ensemble and big band rehearsals. This year’s camp will also include performance master classes focusing on jazz theory and improvisation, and the camp will culminate in a final recording project.
Students will also receive a ticket to the Newport Jazz Festival at Fort Adams State Park and will have the opportunity for a meet-and-greet or master class with a Newport Jazz Festival artist. Please note that the festival admission will be dependent on format and availability.
Applications are due on Sunday, July 10th. A placement audition recording and full tuition must accompany all applications. There are two registration and payment levels for the Jazz Camp at Newport: the Commuter Level is $700 and the Overnight Level is $1200. All registration fees include daily classes and rehearsals, the meet and greet, a ticket to the Jazz Festival and a camp t-shirt.
For more information, visit the Jazz Camp’s website and the Eventbrite registration. Anyone interested can also call (401) 341-2297 or email jazzcamp@salve.edu.
The camp is sponsored by Salve Regina, the University of Rhode Island and West Virginia University.
