Theater program holding auditions for “Urinetown”
The Department of Music, Theatre and Dance will hold auditions for its upcoming production of “Urinetown: The Musical” at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23 and noon Saturday, Jan. 24 in the Megley Theatre.
Auditions are open to all members of the Salve Regina community along with the general public. Those wishing to audition should prepare a song, and a can bring a monologue or read from the script.
A social and political satire written by Greg Kotis, “Urinetown” is set in a fictional future where a 20-year drought has crippled the city’s water supplies. Water is so scarce that the government enforces a ban on all private toilets in an effort to control water consumption. The musical debuted at the New York International Fringe Festival in 2001 and was later produced on Broadway at Henry Miller’s Theatre.
Rehearsals begin Monday, Feb. 23 and will be held from 6-10 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. “Urinetown” runs April 16-25 at the Casino Theatre.
