Theatre arts program presenting “Spring Awakening” April 7-17
The Department of Music, Theatre and Dance will present Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater’s award-winning rock musical “Spring Awakening” for two weeks at the Casino Theatre. Directed by associate professor Reggie Phoenix, performances will be given at 8 p.m. April 7-9 and 14-16, with 2 p.m. performances April 9-10 and 16-17.
Set in the late 19th century, “Spring Awakening” explores the journey from adolescence to adulthood with poignancy and passion. An electrifying fusion of morality, sexuality, resiliency and power, the musical follows students as they navigate teenage self-discovery and the coming age of anxiety in a powerful celebration of youth and rebellion.
The cast includes Kenny Benell ’18, Sarah Birkhofer ’16, Mariana Bracciale ’16, Sofia Corrado ’19, Alexandra D’Agostino ’17, Nathaniel Flachs ’18, Racquel Jean-Louis ’17, Charles Kehres, Madisyn Mugarero ’19, Hunter Nicolson ’16, Vanessa Sciolto ’19, Jillian Tereshka ’19 and Austin Venditelli.
Students serving on the artistic and production staff include Kerry Collins ’17, Ming Congdon ’18, Kathryn Coppa ’19, John Farrell ’18, Claire Horvath ’18, Laura Jedynasty ’17, Morgan Salpietro ’19, Jenifer Sartanowicz ’16, Briana Tosado ’17 and Collin Travassos ’18.
Tickets are $15 for general admission, $10 for seniors and military and $8 for Salve Regina students, faculty and staff. Members of Salve Regina’s Class of 2019 receive free admission to the following performances with valid University ID: Thursday, April 7 (8 p.m.); Sunday, April 10 (2 p.m.); and Sunday, April 17 (2 p.m.).
