Theatre program presenting “Rent” at Casino Theatre April 16-26
The Department of Music, Theatre and Dance will present Jonathan Larson’s award-winning rock musical “Rent” for two weeks at the Casino Theatre. Directed by associate professor Reggie Phoenix, performances will be given at 8 p.m. April 16-18 and 23-25, with 2 p.m. performances April 18-19 and 25-26.
The ninth longest running Broadway show of all time, “Rent” is a powerful rock musical exploring issues of money, drugs, sex, addiction, mourning, sexuality and disease. Set at the dawn of the 1990s, it follows eight New Yorkers whose lives are tied together as they struggle with their careers, love lives and the effects of the AIDS epidemic on their community.

The cast includes Nate Flachs ’18 as Mark, Matt Royality-Lindman as Roger, Hunter Nicolson ’16 as Benny, Clayon McFarlane as Collins, Kenneth Benell ’18 as Angel, Mariana Bracciale ’16 as Joanne, Racquel Jean-Louis ’17 as Mimi and Sarah Birkhofer ‘16 as Maureen. Members of the company also include Mark Benedetti ’15, Kerry Collins ’18, Alexandra D’Agostino ’17, Jacqueline Dest ’16, Jacob Fernandes ’17, Laura Jednasty ’17, Mikayla Kenneway ’18 and Maria Smith ’16.
