Three men’s basketball players named to Honors Court
Nicholas Bates ’17, David Hanson ’16 and Chris O’Keefe ’16 were recently named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ Honors Court.
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria, including a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2015-2016 academic year.
In addition, the men’s basketball team received the association’s Team Academic Excellence Award for the third year in a row. The award recognizes outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better for the 2015-2016 season.
“The Team Academic Excellence Award is an outstanding honor and is the result of the dedication all of our players have put into their academic pursuits,” said head coach Sean Foster. “Our group has prioritized the mission of Salve Regina within the community, on the court and in the classroom. I am extremely pleased that our upperclassmen have exhibited strong leadership academically. The Honors Court recognition is a special benchmark for Nick, David and Chris. They are achieving a high level of academic success at a very challenging institution, which bodes well for their future.”
