Three Seahawks named to all-academic region team
Mark Marino ’16, Joseph Pate ’16 and Jake Weinshank ’15 have been named to the 2014 National Soccer Coaches Association of America men’s college division scholar all-East region team.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA throughout his career, start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team, and be a junior or above in academic standing.
Marino and Pate, both accounting majors, carry a 3.69 and 3.93 GPA, respectively. Weinshank, an anthropology major, won the Commonwealth Coast Conference senior scholar athlete award earlier this year and carries a 3.98 GPA to lead the Seahawks.
“I am very happy to see Mark, Joe and Jake be recognized in this manner, as I strongly feel that they all embody the term ‘student-athlete,'” said head coach Craig O’Rourke II. “Their commitment in the classroom, as well as on the playing field, is exemplary, and they each were major contributing factors to our team winning the NSCAA team academic achievement award earlier this year.”
