Three Seahawks receive conference honors
Three members of the field hockey team have been named to the Commonwealth Coast Conference all-conference squad. Lisa Bucci ’14, Julia Grover ’16 and Kelsey Iwanicki ’17 each earned second-team selections.
Bucci led the Seahawks in scoring and ranked sixth in the league in three categories – goals (11), assists (eight), and points (30). The fourth-year forward played in 17 games for Salve Regina and finished tied for fourth in the conference with 53 shots on goal. Her three game-winning goals in 2013 were one more than her total entering the season.
Grover played in all 18 games and finished second on the team in scoring with eight goals and six assists. Her two game-winning goals came against Wheelock College at home and Roger Williams University on the road. Grover had a season-high five shots on goal in a Seahawk loss at Bridgewater State University.
Iwanicki, one of six Seahawks to play in all 18 games, earned a defensive save in a 2-1 loss to Saint Joseph’s College of Maine. The Seahawks posted three shutouts on the season, including a 1-0 win over visiting Endicott College.
