Three seniors will captain men’s lacrosse in 2018
Seniors Matt D’Amore, Zach Makoske and Mike Sheehan have been selected to serve as captains of the men’s lacrosse team for the 2018 season.
“In the classroom and on the field, they lead an incredible senior class,” said head coach Patrick Cooney. “The team is excited to have Matt, Zach and Mike captain them in 2018.”
The anchor of the Seahawk defense, D’Amore has started 43 games and earned 23 wins. In 46 career game appearances, he has scooped 99 ground balls, caused 14 turnovers and made 520 saves, saving 54.5 percent of the shots faced. In each of his three seasons, D’Amore has improved his save percentage, including a 56.9 save percentage last season. He earned academic-all conference honors during his sophomore and junior seasons.
Makoske is a strong two-way midfielder and an influential, versatile member of the Seahawks. Through his first three seasons, he has tallied 56 points (34 goals, 22 assists) and scooped up 67 ground balls. Makoske earned academic-all conference honors during his sophomore and junior seasons.
A force in the Seahawks defense, Sheehan has started 40 games through his first three seasons. He has caused 40 turnovers, tallied 86 ground balls and added four goals through this point of his career. Sheehan earned academic-all conference honors during his sophomore and junior seasons.
The Seahawks will kick off the 2018 season at Clark University on Saturday, Feb. 17.
