Trio of Seahawks earns weekly honors
The men’s lacrosse team picked up two Commonwealth Coast Conference wins last week and swept the conference’s weekly awards, as Chad Hollenshade ’14, Nick LoCicero ’17 and Andrew Watkins ’17 all earned honors from the league.
Hollenshade was named offensive player of the week after recording nine points, including three goals and six assists. He started the week with seven points (2 goals, 5 assists) in a 16-5 road win over Curry College. In Salve Regina’s 8-7 overtime win over the University of New England, Hollenshade scored the game-winning goal.
LoCicero was named rookie of the week for his 11 points scored (3 goals, 8 assists). He broke Salve Regina’s single-season assist record with his first of five against Curry. On the year, LoCicero now has 34 assists to lead the team and conference.
Watkins was named defensive player of the week after recording 12 saves in the win over Curry. He made a season-high 19 saves in the overtime victory against University of New England, finishing the week with a 5.65 goals against average and 31 saves.
Salve Regina is currently 9-1 on the year and 2-1 in the conference. In the most recent New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association poll, the Seahawks are ranked 10th in Division III.
