Congratulations to baseball players Alex Perry ’18 and Zack Smith ’19, who recently received honors from the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
Perry was named player of the week after helping his team to a 4-1-1 week, including a 3-1 showing in conference play. He recorded a hit in each game and scored in all but one. During the week, Perry batted .565 with three doubles and a home run, scored seven runs, drove in six and stole two bases.
“I’m amazed at what Alex is able to do offensively most days,” said head coach Eric Cirella. “He just has a knack for getting hits, especially in clutch spots, and driving in runs. He is one of the top offensive threats in the region and he continues to produce in tough spots.”
Smith was named rookie of the week after collecting hits in five of six games for the Seahawks. In a game against Rhode Island College April 8, he hit his first collegiate home run. Smith batted .400 for the week, drove in six runs, scored three times and stole two bases.
“Zack had a really solid week for us all around,” Cirella said. “Offensively, we have really focused on his preparation for a game and staying with the same approach. He really barreled up some balls this week and should be a staple in the middle of our lineup for the next few years.”
