Two student-athletes earn conference honors

Congratulations to Alex Demeo ’19 and Haiden Pereira ’19, who recently received honors from the Commonwealth Coast Conference.

Demeo was named runner of the week for women’s cross country after finishing 20th in a field of 299 runners at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Invitational. She ran the 5K course in 19:12 to lead the Seahawks to a seventh-place finish out of 40 teams. Demeo was the top conference finisher in the meet.

The Seahawks will compete in the Blazer Invitational hosted by Elms College on Saturday, Sept. 23.

Pereira was named defensive player of the week for football after helping the Salve Regina defense hold Dean College scoreless in a 27-0 win last Saturday. He also contributed to the scoring with a 36-yard pick-six to go along with six solo tackles.

Salve Regina (3-0) will travel to face Western Connecticut State University on Saturday, Sept. 23.
