Two student-athletes earn conference honors
Two student-athletes representing men’s basketball and women’s ice hockey recently received weekly honors from the Colonial Hockey Conference and the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
Taylor Chisholm ’19 was named player of the week for women’s ice hockey after recording five goals and an assist in two wins against Johnson & Wales University. In the first game, she notched an assist and tacked on an insurance goal as the Seahawks won 4-0. Chisholm followed that performance with four goals en route to the 5-3 victory in the second game.
Salve Regina (4-10-1, 1-4-1 CHC) travels to face Salem State University at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, in a return to conference play.
Mikey Spencer ’22 was named rookie of the week for men’s basketball after leading the Seahawks in scoring during an undefeated week. Against Curry College, he shot 64.3 percent for 23 points, while improving to 76.9 percent shooting for 30 points in a win versus Wentworth Institute of Technology.
Salve Regina (6-8, 2-3 CCC) travels to face conference opponent Western New England University at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10.
