Women’s basketball head coach Cori Hughes has named three captains for the 2016-2017 season: Mary Eden ’18, Allyson Esielionis ’18 and Jillian Woodward ’17.
“I think the captains chosen this year are a great representation of our team – all very different, bringing different strengths to our team, helping to mold our identity,” Hughes said. “I’m excited to see where their leadership brings us as the season progresses.”
Eden, with 24 career three-pointers, was limited to 18 games as a sophomore due to a hand injury. Esielionis, second on the Seahawks last season with 13 field goals from behind the arc, has started 48 of 49 games played in her two-year career. Woodward contributed a career-best 66 field goals last year and has played in 74 of 79 games over her three seasons. She also started 11 games as a junior.
Salve Regina opens its season at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15 at the Rodgers Recreation Center against the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
