University community invited to celebrate mercy heritage
Students, faculty and staff are invited to celebrate the mercy heritage at Salve Regina during the annual Mercy Week celebration. The week will feature a celebration in the Miley cafeteria, a mercy heritage night and a special Mass, which will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26.

Mercy Day Celebration
The Mercy Day celebration will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 in the Miley cafeteria. Students will be greeted by representatives from the Mercy Honor Society, Sigma Phi Sigma, Mercy in Motion, the Sisters of Mercy, Mercy Volunteer Corps and Mercy Associates.
Faculty and staff are invited to a complimentary lunch, courtesy of the University. Throughout lunchtime, raffle drawings will be held. A special menu, indicative of the Irish roots of Catherine McAuley, will be served.
Mercy Heritage Night
Sister Carol Jussaume ’71, a Sister of Mercy for more than 47 years, will discuss living a life of mercy at 6 p.m. in the Mercy Center for Spiritual Life. Open to all students, the discussion will be preceded by a dinner at 5:15 p.m.
Jussaume is currently the chairwoman of the English department at Bay View Academy, an independent, all-girls Catholic school sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy. A former director of communications for the Sisters of Mercy’s Providence province, she has also lived in Peru and ministered to those less fortunate at the Family Outreach Center in Providence.
