Update on Salve Signature Experience, hiring underway for executive director
Over the past year, Salve Regina’s faculty and staff have been hard at work developing the vision and design of the Salve Signature Experience. The aim is to develop a distinctive, intentional and developmental experience for every Salve Regina student that includes rigorous transformative education, inclusive community, adaptive resilience and compassionate mercy leadership.
Leadership of the Salve Signature Experience
Dr. Kelli J. Armstrong intentionally brought together leadership from student affairs, academic affairs and mission integration to lead this effort to ensure that the Salve Signature Experience seeks to address the whole person of our students.
The co-chairs of the Compass Design Working Groups were Kathleen Farley, associate vice president for student life and dean of students; Dr. Steven Rodenborn, dean of undergraduate studies; and Dr. Theresa Ladrigan-Whelpley, vice president for mission integration.
Together with two working groups of faculty and staff from across the University, they worked through the spring semester to develop blueprints for pilot Signature Experience programs for the First-Year Foundations and Sophomore Explorations components of the Signature Experience.
In May 2022, these Compass Design Working Groups presented the Signature Experience foundational questions along with blueprint pilot proposals to faculty and staff throughout campus at open workshops. They also conducted student focus groups to invite further input and feedback.
On the hunt for an executive director
A next step in this work is to identify the executive director of Signature Experience Initiatives, who will continue to lead our campus community forward in the development and design of the Signature Experience and the implementation of proposed pilots.
The full position description for the executive director is available here for anyone’s reference. Finalists for the position of the executive director of Signature Experience Initiatives will be visiting campus in the coming weeks. Faculty and staff across campus will be invited to meet the finalists, attend their campus presentations and offer feedback.
