Wasilewski to play on Soccer Select Team Brazil Tour
Alex Wasilewski ’15 has been selected to join the 2015 USA D-3 Soccer Select Team – Brazil Tour. The program seeks the best soccer players NCAA Division III has to offer.
Orientation and practices begin in May in Orlando, Fla. From there, the select team will fly to Sao Paulo, Brazil, for its first few games. Rio de Janeiro will be the next stop for the team as they finish off their schedule.
Though the tour is heavily based on the opportunity for the selected players to compete in high-level matches, the team members will also be presented with educational, social and cultural outreach opportunities within the communities visited. The tour sponsors visits to schools, soccer clubs and historical sites throughout Brazil, and the team will also see the existing venues used for the 2014 World Cup and the new ones being built for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
A four-year forward for the men’s soccer team, Wasilewski was a consistent offensive threat for the Seahawks, tallying 20 goals and seven assists for 47 points. In his senior season, he was named all-conference first team and National Soccer Coaches Association of America all-New England region fourth team.
