Women’s tennis team earns all-academic honors
The women’s tennis team posted an overall cumulative GPA of 3.23 during the 2013-2014 academic year to qualify as an Intercollegiate Tennis Association all-academic team.
Six members of the team also earned recognition as ITA scholar-athletes by posting a GPA of 3.50 or better. They are Elizabeth DiFilippo ’15, Julie Grant ’16, Emma Gruber ’17, Elizabeth Liguori ’14, Lindsey Macedo ’16 and Hayley Maxwell ’15.
“Six of our players qualifying for this honor is very impressive,” said head coach Cory Tusler. “Tennis is a two-season sport at the collegiate level so it takes great commitment to excel.”
Salve Regina was one of five programs in the Commonwealth Coast Conference to earn the team honor, joining Eastern Nazarene College, Endicott College, Gordon College, and Western New England University on the list.
The Seahawks open their 2014-2015 season with a road conference match at Western New England Sept. 6.
