Women’s track and field wins conference invitational
With 26 athletes contributing to the scoring, the women’s track and field team captured the Commonwealth Coast Conference invitational April 30. Salve Regina totaled 191.50 points and garnered first-place scoring finishes in eight events.
In throwing events, Seahawks dominated discus, hammer and shot put with three first-place finishers: Nora Donahue ’18, Tiffany Davila ’17 and Mirasia Cassese ’19. Donahue’s discus throw set a meet record.
Natalie Kopiec ’19 won the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles, setting a meet record in the latter, while Erin McCarthy ’16 took first place in the 100-meter dash by .03 seconds. In the 800-meter run, Raquel Pouliot finished second and qualified for the New England championships.
Erin Gunther ’19 added a first in the triple jump; earlier in the season she claimed the school record in the event.
