First Year Programs accepting Student Mentor applications
The Office of First Year and Exploratory Programs is inviting all undergraduate students to apply for Student Mentor positions for the 2013-2014 academic year. Student Mentors are undergraduate sophomores, juniors or seniors who have been selected through an application process to co-facilitate the New Student Seminar (NSS) with an instructor.
Student Mentors work with their NSS instructor to create a sense of belonging, connectedness and familiarization to the Salve Regina campus and local community. The Student Mentor also serves as a resource to first-year students and, together with the instructor, helps to present topics on academic and social transitions relative to the college experience.
Students interested in applying for Student Mentor positions must have a cumulative GPA of 2.50, be in good judicial standing and be enrolled full-time. Students must also possess excellent leadership and problem solving skills, creativity and knowledge of campus resources.
The selection process includes an application with an essay and recommendations and, if applicable, a group interview. Applications are due by the end of the day on Monday, Feb. 18.
Visit the office’s website to obtain the position description, application and recommendation forms. If you have any questions about the position, the timeline or the program, call (401) 341-3288 or e-mail ducha.hang@salve.edu.
