University community is invited to rescheduled eSports launch party

Editor’s Note: Due to the Campus Pause, this event has now been moved to Friday, Feb. 19, from noon to 4 p.m.

The new eSports Center and Lounge has now officially opened in Gerety Hall, and the Office of Student Engagement is hosting a eSports launch party on Friday, Feb. 19, from noon to 4 p.m. Students, faculty and staff are invited to come see the new gaming headquarters at Salve Regina.

During this launch party, there will be lunch options for people to grab and go, as well as light refreshments like Newport Sweet Shop Cookies themed for the occasion. Student engagement will be handing out eSports T-shirts to help promote the space, and a few eSports interns will be there to help answer questions and get people educated about both the space and future plans for eSports.

While the space is for students, faculty and staff who haven’t yet seen the space are encouraged to pop in, view the space and test out the equipment if they are interested. This is an opportunity for everyone within the University community to check out the brand new space, learn more about eSports and even try playing some games.
