Three members of the Salve Regina community will explore the history of Wakehurst in a presentation scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 in the McKillop Library’s special collections room.

“Wakehurst Revisited” will be presented by Sister Therese Antone, chancellor; Dr. Jayme Hennessy, associate professor of religious and theological studies; and Dr. Sarah Littlefield, professor of English.

Noted in 19th century society pages as a granite palace where lavish dinners and balls were staged, Wakehurst served also as a home, first to the Van Alens and now to Salve Regina. Antone, Hennessy and Littlefield will discuss how the vision of James J. Van Alen was adapted and preserved.

Light refreshments will be served following the presentation.
