The Center for Community Engagement and Service is excited to welcome back the Florida Service Immersion, which will be held from April 29-May 4 in Florida. Applications will close online on Friday, March 18, at noon. To apply, go here.
During this service immersion, student participants have opportunity to volunteer at two organizations: Give Kids the World Village and Sunshine Foundation.
Give Kids the World Village
Give Kids the World Village‘s mission is to provide the vacation of a lifetime to children with life-threatening illnesses. Since 1986, more than 150,000 children have had their dreams come true at the village. Located in Orlando, Florida, the village depends on volunteers to fill hundreds of shifts every day. Volunteering at the village means being part of an organization that is truly unique, helping kids and their families create priceless memories in a time when they need it most.
Sunshine Foundation
Sunshine Foundation answers the dreams of children ages 3-18 who have severe or profound physical, developmental or intellectual challenges, as well as victims of trauma from physical or sexual abuse. The families cannot fulfill their requests due to financial strain that the child’s illness may cause, so volunteers help to spread “sunshine” by helping the Sunshine Foundation fulfill kids’s dreams and create priceless memories for kids and families when they need it most.
