CAB comedy series continues with Frangela and Pete Lee
The Campus Activities Board’s comedy series will continue at 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22 with the dynamic duo Frangela, composed of real-life best friends Frances Callier and Angela Shelton. Pete Lee, who made his television debut on Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend,” will open the show.
Callier and Shelton met at Chicago’s Second City Theatre, where they polished their talents as writers and comedy satirists. Frangela has appeared on NBC’s “I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here,” Fox’s “Wedlock or Deadlock,” VH1’s “Best Week Ever” and the hit film “He’s Just Not That Into You.”
They have served as “pop culture pundits” on NBC’s “The Today Show” and “Dateline,” HLN’s “Showbiz Tonight,” Fox News’s “Red Eye w/Greg Gutfeld,” MSN’s “The Big Debate” and NPR’s “Day to Day” and “Off Ramp.” They hosted their own radio show, “The Week According To Frangela,” in Los Angeles and have filled in for nationally syndicated radio talk show hosts Stephanie Miller, Thom Hartman and Randi Rhodes.
Lee has been a standout at the Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, and his comedy CD “Gasmoney” plays in regular rotation on satellite radio. He was a semifinalist on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” filmed his own “Comedy Central Presents” special and played a doctor on CBS’ “As the World Turns.” Lee proved that his humor transcends demographic boundaries by winning Country Music Television’s “Next Big Comic.”
