Salve Regina University Athletics is helping you stay fit, active and healthy through remote living by providing valuable workout resources available to anyone who wants to keep up good wellness habits and stay connected with the University athletics department during this time.

Seahawk Strength and Conditioning YouTube

One way you as a Seahawk can stay active is using the Seahawk Strength and Conditioning YouTube channel that has been created by Salve Regina athletic staff and students. On this channel, you can find various short videos of workouts.

While some of the workouts require equipment, a lot of them can be done using your very own home to help inspire you during remote living. In fact, try out a few highlighted workouts right now from the comfort of your home.

Elbow Plank
Why not do an elbow plank? Elbow planks are great for strengthening many key muscles of the body, including your core muscles. Using the elbows is also nice because you don’t strain your wrists like you might holding other forms of a plank.

Try this out every day, and try to hold your elbow plank for longer and longer times each day to strengthen your entire body. A good start is to see if you can hold it for 30 seconds, and then increase over time.

Elbow Plank Circuit
Are you ready to take it up a notch from your typical elbow plank? Try out this fun plank circuit using paper or towels and a smooth surface to really challenge your body in fresh new ways.

Go check out some of the other great workout videos on the Seahawk Strength and Conditioning YouTube channel.

Join in weekly workout challenges

The Seahawk Strength and Conditioning YouTube channel is also offering weekly challenges where you can try out different workout challenges and compete to be the winner of the week’s challenge. You must make a simple video of yourself doing the challenge and submit it to this form to be considered.

This week’s challenge is the elbow plank. Watch below for the rules of this particular challenge and submit your videos if you’d like to compete.

Watch SeahawkTalk™ live on YouTube

In addition, Salve Regina University Athletics is also hosting a daily SeahawkTalk™ show on the official Salve Athletics YouTube channel with weekly appearances by all 18 head coaches for 20 segments per week. The show is happening live on YouTube Monday through Friday at 3-4 p.m. EST.

Ed Habershaw, longtime sports information director and current associate athletic director, is hosting the 45 episodes every weekday from his makeshift home studio. Habershaw produced the award-winning “Chuck Wilson on Sports” for both WICE 550 and WPRO 630 from 1988-1992.

The full details of SeahawkTalk™ and a comprehensive schedule of guests for each day can be found on Salve Regina’s athletics website.

Each Wednesday, SALVEtoday will provide wellness tips to encourage and uplift the University community during this time of remote living and learning. #salvesgotthis #wellnesswednesdays
