Chiquita Baylor, who has been working in higher education for nearly a decade, will join the Salve Regina student affairs team as director of student activities, effective July 1.

Baylor currently serves as assistant director of student engagement in the Center for Student Involvement at Northeastern University, where she works closely with student organizations, and coordinating events and activities on campus that are creative, educational and in alignment with the university’s mission. She also manages the daily logistics of the Programming Lab, a collaborative work space for student organization leaders, and is responsible for developing workshops and training sessions that aid student organizations in increasing involvement, enhancing their leadership skills, and improving their awareness on campus issues.

Prior to her position at Northeastern, she served as program coordinator in the Office of Orientation and Family Programs and Services at George Mason University, where her primary focus was coordinating aspects of both fall and spring orientation, as well as Family Weekend.

“I am very excited to join the Salve Regina community,” Baylor said. “Working with students has become my life’s passion and I am looking forward to integrating my passion with student life at Salve Regina. It is my mission to continue to empower Salve students to be visionary, culturally competent and responsible members our community. I hope to discover and implement new and innovative ways to engage students by providing educational and social co-curricular opportunities that will enhance the student experience on campus. I am looking forward to the great things that we will accomplish as a team.”

Born and raised in Virginia, Baylor holds a bachelor of arts degree from George Mason University and a master of education from Pennsylvania State University.
