Salve Regina’s EMT Club promotes the knowledge, understanding and interest of emergency medicine through lectures, events and activities geared to students’ interests.

The EMT Club will host its annual mock car crash at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 19 in front of McAuley Hall. Designed to raise awareness of the dangers of distracted and impaired driving, the event simulates a DUI accident and includes responders from the Newport police and fire departments. Each year, Rhode Island Towing donates a totaled car, allowing both departments to demonstrate how they respond to an actual crash.

The club has also hosted multiple CPR, first aid and defibrillator courses; management of aggressive behavior training; and lectures on tactical combat casualty care.

The club has been a recognized student organization since 2015. The group includes:

  • Ethan Boghigian, president
  • Angela Bonavita, vice president
  • Benjamin Tetschner, secretary
  • Gerald Haas III, treasurer
  • Kelsey Auger, public relations
  • Robert Church, adviser

For more information on the EMT Club, follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
