Community service opportunities: April

Photo: The Office of Community Service is in its 15th year of partnering with Rebuilding Together to help community members rebuild their homes. Rebuilding Together service opportunities will be held on Ward Avenue April 17 and April 25.

Hoping to complete some service hours before the end of this academic year? The Office of Community Service has several opportunities available during the month of April. To register for one of the service opportunities listed below, or to view all service opportunities, visit the Community Service website.

April 17: Rebuilding Together

Volunteers are needed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, April 17 to cleanup and do yard work on Ward Avenue for Rebuilding Together.

April 17: Salvation Army

Volunteers are needed from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, April 17 to clean the outdoor spaces and garden at the Salvation Army.

April 17: Child & Family

Volunteers are needed from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 17 to work with children and spread mulch at Child & Family.

April 17: Ballard Park

Volunteers are needed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 17 to paint and clean up trash at Ballard Park.

April 17: Mumford Manor

Volunteers are needed from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Friday, April 17 to clean gardens at landscape at Mumford Manor.

April 22: Clean Ocean Access

Volunteers are needed from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, April 22 to help Clean Ocean Access with an Earth Day beach cleanup. Volunteers will meet at the Marine Avenue entrance to the Cliff Walk.

April 22: Norman Bird Sanctuary

Volunteers are needed from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, April 22 to help the Norman Bird Sanctuary with an Earth Day cleanup.

April 22: Methodist Community Gardens

Volunteers are needed from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, April 22 to help with an Earth Day cleanup at the Methodist Community Gardens.

April 25: Friends of the Waterfront

Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 25 to help Friends of the Waterfront with an Earth Day cleanup at King Park in Newport. Gloves and bags will be supplied by the city. All volunteers will receive a recyclable grocery/beach tote and refreshments.

April 25: Rebuilding Together

Volunteers are needed from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 25 to do yard cleanups on Ward Avenue for Rebuilding Together.
