Deadline to apply for study abroad in Paris approaching
The Office of International Programs is reminding students that Monday, Oct. 15 is the deadline to apply for the January 2013 short-term study abroad program in Paris. Open to undergraduates from all majors, “Special Topics: Literary Paris” runs from Jan. 3-13.
The literary works that will be covered in the course (whether they are read in French or in English translation) will allow the students to come to know and appreciate some of the greatest works in both French and world literature. Students who are able to read the texts in the original French will also benefit from that experience due to the exposure it will give them to new vocabulary, structure and grammar, and stylistic techniques used by each of the authors.
Reading and studying these works in an environment that allows the students to visit sights that are closely related to the authors and/or works themselves will provide a dimension to their understanding that is impossible to recreate in any classroom setting. Where applicable, the course will count toward the six-credit language requirement.
