After winning their opening-round matchups, the field hockey and women’s volleyball teams have each advanced to the semifinals of their Eastern College Athletic Conference tournaments.

Field hockey

Marissa Gagnon ’16 scored a pair of goals, one in each half, to lead the field hockey team to a 2-1 victory over visiting Anna Maria College in first-round action of the ECAC Divison III New England championship Nov. 12.

Salve Regina (14-7) has now matched a program record for wins in a season. The Seahawks will play a semifinal match at top-seeded Plymouth State University at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15.

Salve Regina improves to 11-4 all-time against Anna Maria in the first meeting between the two schools since 2010. The Seahawks will have their first-ever meeting with the Panthers on Saturday.

The Seahawks got an all-around team effort as the women’s volleyball team notched a 3-0 victory over visiting Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in the first round of the ECAC Division III New England championship Nov. 12.

Now 21-10 on the season, the Seahawks advance to the semifinal round to face Worcester State College, a team they beat 3-1 on Oct. 11. That match will be played at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15 at Worcester State.
