Football head coach Kevin Gilmartin and women’s volleyball head coach Lauren Parsons have announced their captains for the 2015 season.

Football

Alex Hulme ’16 and Danny Ives ’16 have been named captains of the football team. “The players picked these two men as their captains because they epitomize everything that we want out of a Salve football player,” Gilmartin said. “Not only are they outstanding football players, but they lead as champions off the field as well.”

Hulme had a breakout season in 2014, registering career highs in catches (68), yards (831) and touchdowns (11). He also had an outstanding season returning kicks, with 16 kicks returned for 507 yards and a 31.7 average. Ives led the Seahawks in tackles in back-to-back seasons, totaling 87 tackles with 54 solo tackles last season.

The Seahawks open the 2015 season at home versus Worcester State University at noon Saturday, Sept. 5 at Gaudet Field.

Women’s volleyball

Chrissy Fraga ’16, Emily Lipinski ’16 and Kat Mendes ’17 have been named captains of the women’s volleyball team. “This year’s captains all play different positions, which will make the leadership come from all points on the court,” Parsons said. “With all three of them bringing different skills to the court I know that they will represent this team well.”

The Seahawks open their season at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3 on the road versus Lesley University.
