Forum focusing on campus-based sexual assaults
Staff members from Day One, the sexual assault and trauma resource center in Providence, will conduct an informational forum on campus-based sexual assault when they visit Salve Regina on Friday, Oct. 17.
The forum will be held from 7-9 p.m. in the Bazarsky Lecture Hall and is sponsored by the Department of Social Work in conjunction with the Dean of Students Office.
Day One staff will talk about statistics, steps to reduce the likelihood of an assault and services available, while staff from the Dean of Students Office will provide an overview of Salve Regina policies and procedures, bystander intervention strategies and self-defense/safety tips to reduce the risk of assault.
Day One’s mission is to reduce the prevalence of sexual abuse and violence, and to support and advocate for those affected by it. The organization operates a 24-hour Victims of Crime Helpline (800-494-8100) as well as offering crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, legal advocacy, prevention education, psycho-educational services for incarcerated men and women who are victims of childhood sexual abuse and assault, and more.
