Local acoustic rock singer Evan Pharmakis, whose solo project Wind in Sails released its first full-length record last week, will perform at 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19 in the Wakehurst fireplace lounge as part of the Friday Night Live series.

Pharmakis gained a strong following from his songwriting efforts and clean vocals in the post-hardcore band Vanna, which he co-founded. After departing Vanna in January 2012, he founded Wind in Sails to create a softer, more meaningful from of expression, writing songs of positivity and hope with a powerful message.

“Brighter Days,” the first full-length record from Wind in Sails, was released Oct. 12. The eight songs on the record are influenced by 90s alternative bands like the Goo Goo Dolls and Gin Blossoms along with current folk rock artists such as City and Colour and Bon Iver.
