Leadership Rhode Island recently honored Dr. Jim Ludes and G. Wayne Miller with its “Leaders as Hosts” award for their work as co-producers and hosts of “Story in the Public Square,” the public affairs television series that features interviews with today’s best print, screen, music and other storytellers about their creative processes and how their stories impact public understanding and policy.
Ludes is Salve Regina’s vice president of public research and initiatives and executive director of the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy. Miller is a Providence Journal staff writer and Pell Center visiting fellow.
“Story in the Public Square,” a partnership between the Pell Center and the Providence Journal, is a year-round initiative to study and celebrate public storytelling. The weekly public affairs program is broadcast on SiriusXM’s POTUS channel as well as Rhode Island PBS. The show is part of a broader Pell Center initiative to study, celebrate and tell stories that matter.
In announcing the “Leaders as Hosts” award winners, Leadership Rhode Island stated: “Through their work at the Pell Center for International Relations at Salve Regina University, Jim Ludes and Wayne Miller have displayed many of these traits. Their weekly television/radio production … has served as a valuable forum for civil discourse since 2012.”
“Story in the Public Square” airs on Rhode Island PBS in Rhode Island and southern Massachusetts on Sundays at 11 a.m. and is rebroadcast Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. An audio version of the program airs Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m., Sundays at 1:30 p.m. and Mondays at 2:30 a.m. on SiriusXM’s popular POTUS (Politics of the United States) channel.
