Editor’s Note: SALVEtoday is celebrating the Class of 2021’s Senior Week with specially curated content Monday, May 3 through Friday, May 7. Senior Week will be devoted to sharing special Senior Success stories and other content relevant to the Class of 2021.

Congratulations, Class of 2021! The Mercy Center for Spiritual Life and the entire Salve Regina community rejoices with you as you celebrate all you have accomplished and become in your time at Salve Regina.

Though eager to congratulate you, we are sorry to see you go. You have made your home here and wormed your way into the heart of this community. You will be missed. We pray for you, as you go forth, giving thanks and asking blessing.

A prayer before you go…

God of Mercy,

We turn to you in gratitude as we consider the gift of the Class of 2021.

We have been humbled to see them grow as scholars in many fields, as leaders among their peers and in their academic disciplines, as friends and community to one another, as athletes and artists, as people of faith and people of service to the world, as partners in the mercy mission. For all this we are grateful.

We give thanks for the open and devoted spirit they have brought to the Salve community and all the ways they have changed us. They have challenged us. They have inspired us. They have made us laugh. They have made us better. For all this we are grateful.

We ask you now to bless them.

We pray that you give them wisdom, may they apply their knowledge and skills with mercy, that the world may know your presence through them.

We pray that you give them courage, in the face of discord, injustice, and cruelty, may they push back to bring instead harmony, justice and mercy.

We pray that you give them hope, may they always know that life and work have meaning.

We pray that you give them joy, may they know the deep gift of loving and serving others.

Please grant these things out of your generosity and love,

Amen.
