As relations between the U.S. and Russia remain troubled, America’s recently retired military attache in Moscow will visit Salve Regina for a candid conversation about developments in Eastern Europe.

“Ukraine, Russia and the West,” presented by retired Brig. Gen. Peter Zwack, will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 19 in the Young Building. The lecture is sponsored by the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy.

While the United States needs Russian support on difficult foreign policy challenges in Iran and Syria, over the last year Russia has pursued a belligerent policy towards Ukraine, seizing Crimea and supporting separatists seeking to break a considerable portion of Eastern Ukraine away from the authority of Kiev. As American policymakers debate providing lethal aid to Ukraine, Zwack will discuss the future of U.S.-Russian relations.

Seating for Thursday’s lecture is very limited and reservations are required. To reserve a seat, email the Pell Center at pellcenter@salve.edu.
