Mission committee sponsoring annual “Faces of Mercy” contest
Salve Regina’s mission committee is sponsoring the annual “Faces of Mercy” contest and is inviting all members of the University community to submit entries depicting what mercy means to them.
Entries may be submitted in a variety of formats, including photos, artwork, story and poem. All submissions must be in hard copy with a maximum size of 11×17 inches, although pictures of original artwork are acceptable. Submissions will be retained by the committee.
Prizes include $100 for first place, $75 for second place, $50 for third place and $25 for honorable mention. Entries are due Friday, March 24. Submissions should be brought to the Department of Business Studies and Economics in the O’Hare Academic Building, Room 136.
The corporal works of mercy are:
- Feed the hungry
- Give drink to the thirsty
- Clothe the naked
- Harbor the harborless
- Visit the sick
- Ransom the captive
- Bury the dead
The spiritual works of mercy are:
- Instruct the ignorant
- Counsel the doubtful
- Admonish sinners
- Bear wrongs patiently
- Forgive offenses willingly
- Comfort the afflicted
- Pray for the living and the dead
