The Office of Multicultural Programs will commemorate the loss of former South African president and Nobel Peace Prize winner Nelson Mandela at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11 in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel.

All members of the Salve Regina community are welcome to participate in this event, which will include a candlelight vigil, a non-denominational prayer and quiet reflection time. To celebrate Mandela’s influential life, students, faculty and staff can bring their favorite quote to share with others.

“It is so important for us as a community to pause and recognize the loss of Nelson Mandela,” said Berlenise Castillo ’16, who played a key role in coordinating the event. “Without him, equality in the world would not look the same today.”
