Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the Newport Winter Festival is 10 days of nonstop food, festivities, music and fun, featuring more than 150 events. Salve Regina students are invited to take advantage of special discounts being offered throughout the festival, which will be held Feb. 15-24.

With a valid Salve Regina ID, students can purchase a Winter Festival button for only $6, a discount from the regular price of $9. The button provides discounted admission to all Winter Festival events. Buttons will be available for purchase during Wednesday’s Vendor Fair or at several locations throughout Aquidneck Island.

Salve Regina students with a valid ID may also receive discounted admission to the following events:

Illusionquest

6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22 at the Hyatt Regency on Goat Island, admission $7 with ID or $5 with festival button

Professional illusionist David Garrity performs visual magic and illusions. Highlights of the show include David’s assistant appearing out of thin air, a table that floats around the stage, the world’s fastest illusion (where time seems to stand still), audience participation, comedy and more.

Beatlemania

9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Hyatt Regency on Goat Island, admission $18 with ID

Relive the Revolution with members from “The Cast of Beatlemania.” These four seasoned musicians capture the spirit, look and sound of the Beatles in 29 renditions. A smash on Broadway and thrilling sell out audiences from Los Angeles to Boston, these performers bring the best-loved popular music of all time to Newport.

Chicken Wing Cook-Off

11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Hyatt Regency on Goat Island, admission $8 with ID

The third annual Chicken Wing Cook-Off will feature area restaurants serving up all the wings you can eat, from spicy to sweet.
