Peter Torgrimson, whose background includes success as a player in high school and college and experience as a U.S. Professional Tennis Association certified tennis professional, has been named head coach for men’s and women’s tennis.

Torgrimson was the state high school singles champion in Minnesota in 2002. He played at Assumption College from 2002-2003 and returned to his home state to play at the Division I level for the University of Minnesota from 2004-2007.

After graduating from college, Torgrimson played professionally and held a world ranking. He has taught tennis locally at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport and the Dunes Club in Narragansett, and nationally in California, Arizona and Connecticut.

The Seahawks compete in the Commonwealth Coast Conference at the NCAA Division III level. The women’s program begins its preseason Aug. 28 and features more than a dozen events on its fall schedule, including the annual Grass Court Doubles Championships hosted by Salve Regina at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
