Do you have a prom dress that is collecting dust and taking up space in your closet at home? Or do you have a special dress that you could part with to help make a girl feel beautiful on her prom night?

Child & Family, Adoption Rhode Island, the Newport Restoration Foundation and Salve Regina are once again sponsoring the Groovy Girls prom dress giveaway and are asking members of the University community to donate gently used special occasion dresses, along with shoes and accessories.

It is all too common that girls spend years without a family while waiting to be adopted. Child & Family’s Groovy Girls program works to empower these girls by helping them to believe in themselves and learn how to build positive relationships while awaiting adoption.

The prom dress giveaway will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12 in the Young Building. To donate, email allison.langlois@salve.edu or stop by Dr. Robin Hoffmann’s office in McAuley Hall, Room 311 by Monday, April 7.
